1st to K-9 (Swedish Nationals)
Swedish National Curriculum
Haven Academy's main curriculum is the Swedish and and is taught in Swedish.
We follow the Swedish two term school year, with the Christmas holidays and summer vacation. In between, we take into account holidays in those of schools in Thailand.
Our goal is that the school should be a workplace where students feel motivated to work. Once students have a use of what they learn in school, knowledge becomes meaningful. Hand work is as important as intellect and learning should be enjoyable. Students should develop into an independent entity with its own identity and ability to think critically. The teacher's pedagogical task is to aid the student to reach their full potential and to teach them to take responsibility for their own work. Democracy and shared responsibility is fundamental in our pedagogy.
We have found no conclusive research that it would be good for students to work age integrated, however, we see a gain in working in a group where you feel safe and train in conflict resolution. To further enhance student's self-esteem and knowledge of oneself, and others, we work actively with EQ (emotional social training). Language skills are important now and even more in the future, and we want to work to stimulate interest in modern languages, but also for our own language, Swedish.
Language, especially English, is one of our profiles.

Haven Academy is a Calvert Partner School and uses the
entire
Calvert curriculum for 1st to 8th grades, taught by qualified education counselors and teacher aides. Because Calvert School (as Calvert Education Services, the department in charge of homeschools and partner schools) is CITA-accredited, it follows that the students of Haven Academy get internationally-recognized certificates of completion and transcripts upon finishing each grade level.
